Best modem for google nest router8/17/2023 Is that what I need to try to get back to? The 1gb white, puck-like router and extender? I'd love it if this 2gb equipment wasn't bugged, but I need a stable connection. We just moved to this house and before, we had the white, puck-like router and extender. Maybe that makes the router the fiber jack. What is your main router? What I would consider my fiber jack only has the optical running to the larger Google router. I see you say you switched back to the 1gb plan. I didn't switch from the 2gb plan and I'm still using the same main Google router. I then connected my 2 Asus gigabit Ai Mesh routers that are a couple of years old and unfortunately this problem still persists. I did disconnect the extender and switched the main router to bridge mode. He says he doesn't have any idea if it's good or not and that it's just a crap shoot. Google techs are great and the same person has been out multiple times and swapped the main router. Usually for less than a min, but both of our jobs are remote, so that's not conducive. Signal-wise, the WiFi strength was strong throughout the house, but many times a day, all devices I was within range of would simultaneously lose connection. I had the larger 2gb router and triangular extender set up for the service. Many devices seem to be just now starting to implement WiFi 6, so I have a feeling it’s going to be another year or two at least before we really start seeing devices supporting 6E. Since you mentioned WiFi 6E, it’s certainly a good thing for future proofing, but keep in mind that a network is only as strong as its weakest link, and 99% of clients don’t support WiFi 6E yet. as well, and you’re likely to get some really great results. With that being said, invest in running Ethernet lines if you don’t already have them, and utilize said runs to create a really solid internal network with properly placed APs and hardwire the clients that can be hardwired in order to free up Wi-Fi resources for the other clients. Unless you’re on a very slow (<100Mb) connection, it will almost always be more beneficial to upgrade the network inside your home, rather than the network outside. For the people that do actually need it, they know that they need it. 99% of people can’t saturate a 1Gb connection, so a 2Gb connection is really quite pointless for most people, it’s just an easy way for Google to charge more.
